Running in its third year, the Yilan Chair Design Competition has recently opened registrations for its 2015 round of selections.
The Yilan Chair Design Competition is held annually by the Yilan County Government. The theme of the competition is children’s chairs, and the participants of the competition are asked to design their works with the elements of Yilan in mind.
Every year, the competition looks for works that are inspired by Yilan. Such elements of inspiration may include the figurative colors, shapes, crafts, totems, texts, and symbols related to Yilan; or abstract elements such as the county’s vibrant history, spirit, cultural values, and attitude towards everyday living.
The competition offers a total prize pool of over US$16,000 in cash. There will be Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards for the top three winning works, as well as 12 places for Merit Awards, 15 places for Honorable Mentions, and one Viewers’ Choice Award.
Online registrations are now open until the end of April 30, 2015.
