The MOU will serve as the basis for bilateral cooperation in the convention industry, which will in turn promote the two countries' economic and trade development, according to a statement from TAITRA.
The agreement was signed between the council and Tokyo Big Sight Inc.
Japan is seen as occupying a key position in the convention industry in the Asia-Pacific region, according to TAITRA.
In 2011, the number of professional exhibitions held in Japan was four times that staged in Taiwan, while international conventions held in Japan were 2.2 times the number organized in Taiwan, TAITRA said.
Under the terms of the MOU, the two parties will promote each other's trade exhibitions and exchange ideas and experience on their operation and management, TAITRA added.
