Taiwan’s Tong Lung to Mass-Produce and Export High-Tech Locks

Source: Taiwantrade | Updated: 07 October 2010

The company’s radio-frequency identification (RFID) lock and second-generation push-button electronic lock will be mass-produced at the end of this year. The revenues to be generated by the two high-tech locks are expected to cover about 10% of Tong Lung’s total yearly revenues. They will also be sold to both domestic and overseas markets with their own brand name—EZSET.

The general manager of Tong Lung’s metal hardware department, Yang Hsi-ching, pointed out that the company’s RFID lock can be integrated into and used with a subway reusable farecard. The reliability of the second-generation push-button electronic lock, on the other hand, has been greatly raised, and its price has become even more appealing. The two high-tech locks can help increase the value of large residential complexes and are also suitable for regular households. Tong Lung is planning to expand to the China market.

In the area of traditional locks, due to the recovery of export markets in the first half of 2010, as well as the rise of labor wage and tax in China, many order placements of door locks have found other factories outside China. Tong Lung’s metal hardware factory in the Philippines is one of the beneficiaries, the order placements of which have been growing steadily.
