TAITRA, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council led 54 Taiwanese food and beverage vendors to participate in the Hong Kong HOFEX 2015, from the 6th to 9th of May. The expo at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre drew approximately 38,000 visitors. Sponsored by the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs, TAITRA set up the national pavilion at Hall 3E with 68 booths for all buyers to sample various food and beverages from Taiwan. This year 2,877 potential buyers visited the Taiwan pavilion and follow-up business opportunities exceeded USD 3,219 million.
Hong Kong has always been handling a significant portion of China’s expanding external trade. Taiwan exhibitors used this site to display their latest food and beverage products, such as bubble milk tea ingredients, rice, wine, fruit vinegar, confectioneries, cereals, noodles, prepared foods, frozen vegetables and meats, offering an opportunity for buyers and distributors to learn more about the diversity of Taiwan food products.
Already professional buckwheat producer, Taiwan Golden Buckwheat Co., has expanded its market to Malaysia, Singapore and other Asian countries. Via HOFEX, their products are expected to be soon seen in Hong Kong and Macau’s well known supermarkets and malls. Fone Chen Frozen Food Co. also exhibited their newest patent product, potato powder, which can be formed into different shapes; another plus is that conditions for preservation are much lower than the traditional frozen potatoes. With its great taste and beneficial price, it attracted hundreds of potential buyers’ inquiries. The renowned dairy product producer, Kuang Chuan Dairy, without doubt was one of the most popular booths in the Taiwan pavilion. With new products coming up every year, buyers from America and Japan eagerly discussed cooperating with Kuang Chuan, it hopes to build an international brand in the future. Worldwide buyers' accreditation marks a milestone in quality and qualified Taiwanese food and beverages will be welcomed on the Hong Kong market.
