The 51st JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW 2015 organized by the Japan DIY Industry Association, will be held for 3 consecutive days from August 27th to 29th at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Halls in Chiba Prefecture. A year ago the show hosted some 495 exhibitors who occupied a total of 1,114 booths. It recorded a turnout of 105,806 visitors, which was far greater than in 2013.
This year the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) will be leading a group of hardware and hand tool enterprises eager to have a crack at the Japanese DIY market. An extra touch to everyday living: creating future lifestyles is the theme of this year’s show. Over 200,000 products by numerous manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers will be featured, and they include various hand tools, metal hardware, building materials, household commodity, kitchenware, gardening implements, pet-care items and more.
To actively participate in Japan’s DIY market, the Taiwan hardware and hand tools industry looks to engage international buyers by promoting new and time-tested DIY concepts, designs and solutions. 31 Taiwan enterprises will showcase their wares at the Taiwan Pavilion organized and implemented by the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs and TAITRA, respectively.
Among the items to be promoted include blinds, hand tools, denture cleaners, hearing aids, multifunctional display boards, multifunctional socket wrenches, digital toque wrenches, auger bits, screwdrivers, stainless steel storage shelves, digital temperature displays, cash boxes, retractable tie-downs, hand trucks, hand crimpling tools, cord sets, hand pumps, gardening tools, cable ties, engravers, magic fixing tools, scissors, electrician knives, construction time lapse cameras, WIFI motion activated cameras, etc.
Various events like “Exhibitor Presentation/Workshop”, “Japan DIY Product Competition”, and “HOMECENTER TRADE II” will take place during the show period to promote better exchange with seven HC buyers. Taiwanese exhibitors have actively signed up for the one-to-one trade meetings with HC buyers and also for the DIY Store Tours with Japan DIY Industry Association to get a better understanding of Japan’s hardware and hand tools market trends.
Enjoying a close trading relationship with each other, Japan remained among the top 3 trading partners of Taiwan. Trade between the two sides amounted to US$61.6 billion last year. According to the Japan DIY Industry Association, Japan’s HOMECENTER recorded revenue totaling JP¥3.5 trillion in 2010. It operates 4,123 stores, which generated JP¥3.9 trillion in 2013. Given that more Japanese suppliers are outsourcing production to reduce cost Taiwanese suppliers can seize the opportunity by intensifying exchanges with business prospects.
To assist Taiwanese enterprises promote in the global market, TAITRA will also lead a group of Taiwanese exhibitors for the Hand Tools & Fastener Expo 2015 in India in September and the International Hardware Fair in Cologne in March, 2016.
