It will be the first office to be set up by a Taiwanese trade organization in China, the source said.
The office, to be named as the Shanghai office of the Taiwan Trade Center, will be housed in Ganghui Building in Shanghai's Xujiahui District, which has convenient public transportation links and less-congested traffic compared to the city center, the source said.
The office's location is also close to nearby highways, which makes it easier to visit for Taiwan businessmen from the Yangtze River Delta, the source added.
On April 18, Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council announced that authorities from Taiwan and China have agreed to establish reciprocal trade offices.
According to the source's understanding, Gao Li, an official from China's Ministry of Commerce responsible for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau affairs, will be posted to Taiwan as a trade organization representative.
Gao will work in Taiwan in her capacity as the deputy chairwoman of China's Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, the source said.
