This June, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) organized two major Brazilian trade groups to Taipei. One of the Brazilian trade groups represented the mechanical industry and the other represented consumer goods.
On June 10th, we had 12 buyers from Brazil that arrived in Taipei to participate in trade meetings, including Kostal Eletromecanica, which is a major import company with 450 employees; and Cia Sulamericana de Distribuicao, a company with more than 6,500 employees and USD 700 million in annual sales. They are looking for mechanical parts, automobile semi-finished products, electric components, consumer electronics, IT computers and medical equipment suppliers. Each one of them had great meetings with Taiwanese suppliers. Moreover, this trade meeting created more than USD 40 million in business procurement.
On June 23rd, TAITRA invited from the Brazilian state of Parana, the Federacao do Comercio do Parana Vice President Mr. Paulo Herminio Pennacchi, and International Relations Director Mr. Rui Lemes to Taiwan and signed a memorandum of understanding between TAITRA and Federacao do Comercio do Parana. Both sides wished to extend the business relationship in the future. “Henceforth, we are looking forward to TAITRA organizing a trade mission to Parana Brazil and creating more business opportunities”, said Mr. Rui Lemes.
This time, 10 supermarket buyers from Parana state Brazil, which is the 5th biggest economic state in Brazil, came explore trade opportunities in Taiwan. The average income of residents in Parana is slightly higher than that of the rest of Brazil. The Brazilian delegations were very interested in consumer goods, including kitchenware, house textiles, stationery items, gifts, handbags, sports equipment and leisure goods. The trade meeting created more than USD 300,000 in business procurement.
This July 30th, TAITRA will organize the Brazil & Mexico Trade Day. For this event, TAITRA will invite 32 buyers form Mexico and Brazil. The procurement items will include mechanical parts, automobile semi-finished products, fasteners, electric components, green energy solutions, consumer electronics, and medical equipment. During the interim, we will also have procurement policy meeting and a networking event. For more information on the meetings, please visit our website: http://goo.gl/iIJKCW
