The 28th Taipei International Cycle Show(Taipei Cycle) and the 42ndTaipei International Sporting Goods Show(TaiSPO), both organized by TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council), opened on March 18th at Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) Nangang Exhibition Hall and Exhibition Hall 1 and 3, with 1,457 exhibitors in total occupying 80,000 square meters (5,100 booths). Running through March 21st, these 2 shows display full range of sporting goods from complete bicycles, e-bikes, bike parts and accessories, fitness equipment, water sports and outdoor products.
Taiwan cycling and sporting goods continued their global expansion in 2014, with export increasing by 4.44% and 6.63% respectively. To further promote industrial development through innovation, TAITRA has organized two competitions-- Taipei Cycle d&i awards and TaiSPO All-Stars Awards. Besides, in order to assist Taiwan industries in seizing international business opportunities, TAITRA also organized several forums, such as the 2015 International Bicycle Trend Forum and the 2015 Fitness Industry and Fitness Club Management Forum. Those new trends in cycling and global fitness industry were all included respectively in the abovementioned events.
The opening ceremony of two shows was held at the morning of the first day, and the show organizer─TAITRA invited President Ma to attend the show. Ma spoke that TAIPEI CYCLE was as one of the most important buying platforms in the world, given the island’s current ranking as the No.2 exporter of bikes and the No.4 bike manufacturer. At the end of ceremony, Ma and other industry dignitaries─all dressed in matching black and white athletic jackets, sponsored by the exhibitor of TaiSPO show─posed on a stage with those d&i award-winning bikes, and then set off fog machines and confetti by inserting flags in the bikes’ seat posts.
