The MIRD received support from the government as the project can greatly enhance the development of Taiwan’s electric vehicle industry. The structure of the second generation chassis was designed to be light in weight and was optimized to require fewer parts.
The chassis was modularized into five major sections: the front, middle, rear, side, and the battery housing. The front of the chassis was designed to accommodate different power modules (80, 120, 150, or 180 kilowatts). The midsection of the chassis can be fitted with battery modules of various capacities (18, 24, 30, and 36 kilowatt hours).
