Lin’s team used a process to coat glass with titanium dioxide nanowires that change color when applied a voltage. His research findings, titled “Smart Glass Made In One Step”, was recently published in the prestigious journal “ACS Nano”. Using titanium dioxide nanowires and the one-step process can greatly reduce the cost of making to color-changing smart glass, Lin said. Other than building and vehicle windows, the technology can also find potential applications in electro-optical materials such as solar panels.
