MediaTek recently announced the launch of its venture arm, MediaTek Ventures.
With US$300 million in funding, the company will look for startups in Greater China, Europe, Japan and North America to invest in.
MediaTek Ventures will look for innovative startup in the areas of semiconductor, internet infrastructure, services, and the IoT. The company aims to leverage MediaTek’s expertise in IC design and push for innovation in communication, computing, online media and analytics.
"We will not constrain ourselves to any single region in pursuit of innovation and excellence," said company CFO David Ku in a statement.
"We are excited to enable entrepreneurs and start-ups in achieving their dreams and fostering companies that have the potential to create value to end-users around the world and solve the world's biggest problems, " said Ku.
