In 2005, Ke Chiuan obtained the patents for the first-generation SABS Frequency Brake and Rear Suspension System. In 2010, the SABS Frequency Brake was awarded the 2010 Good Design Award in Japan.
The SABS braking system can reduce a cyclist’s braking distance by approximately 50%. The system allows for a controlled stop in the shortest distance possible, and without wheel lockups.
The brake works by generating a fully mechanical braking frequency. It does not require any electric, hydraulic or pneumatic forces. Moreover, higher brake frequencies can be generated at higher wheel speeds.
