Merida was started by its founder Ike Tseng in 1972. The company made Raleigh bikes for the North American market. Over time, Tseng’s talent and skills allowed the company to grow into a well-respected OEM manufacturer for many of the industry’s big brands.
Last year, the company’s off-road “Big Nine Series” bicycles were recognized by the 2012 Taiwan Excellence Awards. The series’ “Twentyniners” are mountain bikes with big 29” wheel sets. The series carried the Multivan Merida Biking Team to many victories in 2012.
The series is available in four frame variations. There are two carbon frames, the “Superlight” and the “Pro”. The other two are aluminum versions, called “Lite” and “TFS”.
With the Big Nine, Merida is aiming to give all bikers big experiences and big fun.
