Source: Taiwantrade | Updated: 12 May 2015

The much touted world-leading exhibition for flat panel manufacturing technology FINETECH JAPAN 2015 was held alongside FILM TECH and PHOTONIX on April 8-10 at the Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Hall. Among the leading exhibitors were FPD manufacturers from Taiwan, who presented the latest touch and display materials, equipment and optical communication products at the Taiwan Pavilion. It is estimated that some US$ 50 million worth of business deals changed hands during the three- day run.

FINETECH showcased some of the most brilliant equipment, components and materials, which include inspection/measurement/repair equipment, measuring instruments, and clean/ESD protection equipment.

Playing host to 24 Taiwanese exhibitors, the Taiwan Pavilion presented various products that include capacitive touch panel solutions, advanced resistive touch panel solutions, TFT LCM, OLEDs, specialty film and sheet, thermal conductive tapes and paste, touch screen panel chemical tempering furnace, cover glass, optical glass, UV resin for touch panel slimming glass processes and for light guide plate, anti-blu-ray resin, etc.

Liyitech’s 55” glass-on-glass touch panel solution attracted attention from big names like Sharp. Reports indicated that Sharp was interested in adopting the technology for its E-learning applications. Liyitech is poised to release its 85” glass-on-glass touch panel solution in the last quarter of this year. Meanwhile, Wisechip, a leading passive OLED company, exhibited both curved OLED and circumferential OLED, eliciting interests from Korean, Chinese and Japanese customers. Wisechip’s OLEDs were among the “MUST SEE” items at FINETECH.

Another high flyer at the show was Shinkong Synthetic Fibers, a subsidiary of the Shinkong Group. The company exhibited its special polyester, resin/A-pet sheet and film products.

The highlight of the event witnessed keynote speeches by leading companies LG Display, BOE, Japan Display and Tokyo Electron. The speakers all vouched that technology and product development for future display will focus on high color saturation and flexible OLEDs, as well as ultra-high definition displays and large-area panels. They concluded by saying that the future trend in display will center on flexibility, rollability, high-color saturation, and ultra-high definition displays.
