Specifically, their findings showed the workings of two enzymes (HDAC1 and p300) that regulated AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase). AMPK is an important enzyme for balancing cellular energy levels (homeostasis) in a number of vital organs, including the liver, brain, and skeletal muscle. The research was published in a recent issue of “Nature”.
